Gobi Desert and Kharkhorin town 7-Day tour

Day 1. Tsagaan suvraga cliff
Welcome to Mongolia! Today’s journey takes us to the Tsagaan Suvraga, a remarkable white cliff formation. The cliffs, also called the "White Stupa," stand tall and majestic, offering a view that is both surreal and unforgettable.
Day 2. Drive to Dalanzadgad & Yol Valley
Drive you to Dalanzadgad, located in the heart of the South Gobi. Due to maintenance work at the local airport, the South Gobi Airport may not be operational in June, so we recommend traveling by car. On the way, you’ll enjoy lunch at a scenic spot. After arriving in Dalanzadgad, check in to a cozy guest house for some rest. Dinner will be served at the guest house, providing a traditional Mongolian experience.
Day 3. Khongor Sand dunes
Today, we explore the beautiful Yol Valley, a picturesque gorge surrounded by cliffs. Known for its stunning landscapes and wildlife, this valley is a perfect destination for a short hike and horse riding. Afterward, we head to the Khongor Sand Dunes, one of the largest sand dunes in the Gobi Desert. Enjoy a thrilling camel ride across the dunes to further explore the area.
Day 4. Bayanzag Flaming cliff
We’ll visit Bayanzag, famously known as the Flaming Cliffs, which is a rich site of dinosaur fossils. As you walk through this breathtaking location, you’ll see red sandstone cliffs glowing under the sunlight, and learn about the fascinating history of dinosaur discoveries. It’s a highlight for both history enthusiasts and nature lovers.

Day 5. Today we journey to the Ongi Monastery
One of the largest monastery complexes in Mongolia. Once home to nearly a thousand monks, the monastery was largely destroyed during the communist purges of the 1930s, and its ruins stand as a poignant reminder of that turbulent era. We'll explore the partially restored temples, learn about the monastery's history, and enjoy the peaceful scenery along the Ongi River. Overnight in a nearby ger camp.
Day 6. Kharkhorin, the ancient capital
We continue to Kharkhorin, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire. Visit the renowned Erdene Zuu Monastery, the oldest surviving Buddhist monastery in Mongolia, whose walls enclose centuries of history and spiritual significance. Nearby, see the famous stone tortoise sculptures that once marked the boundaries of the great imperial city. A walk through this historic site brings the story of Chinggis Khan's empire vividly to life. Overnight in Kharkhorin.
Day 7. Return to Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast, we make our way back to Ulaanbaatar, with scenic steppe landscapes accompanying us on the road home. Upon arrival, you'll have time to visit a local souvenir market or relax before your onward journey. We'll drop you off at your hotel, bringing this unforgettable South Gobi adventure to a close. Safe travels!
